HOW WE ASSESS APPLICATIONS TO THE CLASSROOMS OF CULTURE FUND

The Classrooms of Culture Fund exists to support schools, youth centres, and other educational institutions access cultural education through Wanyara that, without such support, wouldn’t have the resources themselves to host an incursion from Wanyara.

Keeping this purpose in mind, applications are assessed according to Grow Hope’s values. Below are the questions we ask ourselves when looking at a funding application. Not every application will tick every box, but the intent each time we approve an application is to make the greatest impact possible.

EMPOWERMENT

  • How will the desired incursion empower your students to advance reconciliation in their lives, community, and school?

  • How will the incursion extend your school’s efforts to empower and engage students?

OPPORTUNITY

  • How will this incursion expand access to cultural education and open learning opportunities for students who need them?

  • Would this incursion be able to proceed without our support?

LEARNING

  • What educational impact will the incursion have on participating students?

  • What opportunities for teaching and learning exist in the desired incursion?

LEADERSHIP

  • How will your incursion extend and expand Indigenous leadership?

  • How will Wanyara’s presenters be able to contribute to the conversation about First Nations culture through your incursion?

  • Will this incursion amplify Indigenous leadership in your school?
